How thin is thin?
hard to say
each oven/meat/way its cut/way its seasoned cooks different
pretty much trial and error lol
maybe 3/16"
1/4"+ is thick,1/8" dries fast but its hard to cut it that thin
so im guessing around 3/16"
:D

How many pounds of steak make how many ounces of beef jerky? Just curious. Thanks.

Homemade Jerky is great! Made them in Culinary School...best jerky I've ever had.

Just found this thread ... excellent :woot:

Downside is you now made me hungry for some

Oh if you want them hot, try to find Asian green chilli's, slice them in half and rub them over the meat; leave the 'seeds' on there too.

Don't touch your eyes or face after using them and wash your hands immediately afterwards; or use some latex gloves.

hey midnight, do you ship?

I made beef jerky a few times this summer... definitely can get creative with the recipe; I made tons of different recipes using whisky, beer, salad dressing, garlic, onions, curry powder, half a dozen hot sauces, honey, soy sauce, etc.

So easy, and fun to make lots of little batches with different flavours.

i have heard another way to dry it DIY is you take like 3 airfilters(like the ones you use for a furnace) and lay out the steak strips in the grooves. then add a filter on top and repeat then add the top filter then bungee cord the stack to a box fan and turn it on medium. i havent tried this way yet but i might here after seeing this thread has gotten me eager to try it out.
