sweet.

i find all my driftwood and i also bought a few pieces from members on here that were found also, all i did was soak them in hot water and alot of salt for a few weeks changing the water once a week and it was fine after about a month it sunk on its own.

Wow those pieces are awesome. Definitely worth a bit of frost bite!

That second piece is totally bad ***.

I've heard that if you cna't boil the wood 'cause it's too big, you can put it in the dishwasher :)

Thanks for all the advice, I really like the second one too. The dishwasher isn't a bad idea, but I think the girlfriend would kill me.

You just need to hose it off and drop it in the tank. If your worried about the tannins leaching out then soak it for a few weeks first. You found your wood under the water so it should be ready for the tank now. If it floats because it has been out of the water for so long just hold it down with a big rock. It will get waterlogged eventually and stay down with out any help. Remember this wood is not a pressure treated piece of fence post and you didn't fine it in a radioactive pool. There's no need to boil it, there's nothing on it that needs to be sterilized that could possibly affect your fish!

Yep, nothing but native bacteria, worms, parasites, fungus, algae...

Boiling however normally does a number on these... so does salt

I had a piece of driftwood out of my tank for atleast 2 years, I had it as an ornament on my wall unit. When I decided to re-use it as a tank ornament, I put it in a bucket and it sunk right away.

Adding some air bubbles while soaking driftwood helps I think, keep's the water moving and from stagnating.

So I went out and did some more hunting for drift wood and found some more nice pieces. Now the problem is choosing the one I wanna use. Here are my new finds and where I was looking.
