Very cool i like the color!

Thanks! I am pleased with how the stain came out. Minwax mahogany gel stain.

you could def. sell stands like that you took some old boards and made it look better than something with brand new wood! but a stand like that would be like 100+ depends on how much the wood will cost and how much you feel like charging for your work (which your work is excellent)

thanks D-walt for your kind words. There's probably $100 worth of materials in this project, if the materials were new of course. What I'd love to do is make stands with higher quality ply and real hardwoods, whatever the customer wanted. Any ideas about shipping something like this? I imagine the cost won't be pretty.

i bet if you knew your LFS owner well enough he might let you sell them in there but prob for a cut of money!! but shipping i would have no idea about something that large, sorry! but g/l i think you could pull it off..

Yeah I'm sort of trying that now. My LFS owner had reservations because he said that buying a stand like that would void the warranty on any tank a customer would buy with it. He admitted that didn't really make too much sense seeing the better quality (ie real ply/wood vs. particle board) of mine. Still, he's considering it. But I agree with you, would be nice just to consign it out of his store and just give him a percentage. We'll see. My wife would be happy that I would finally make some money with one of my hobbies! Might give me extra fish money!:naughty:

Get in your phone book, and look up the local freight company and ask them to give you some quotes on shipping. They have rates set up for size and weight and zones.
You'd have to palletize it so they can use a fork on them. Easy enough, then secure it to the pallet with shrink wrap...;)

Great advice, thanks! I'll definitely look into that.:)

hubba hubba. i have always loved stands with open spaces, it's beautiful when a tank blends in with your decor and also becomes a bookcase, or whatever, etc. <3 <3 <3

look around online and see what other people are asking for professional custom tank stands. i'm drooling over some of the stands and setup potentials on glasscages.com all the time, they'd be a good place to start.
