Here are some shots of 2 tanks stands I made one for a 55g and one for a 75g. The 55g one was WAY over build, I did jointing and glueing and used 4x4" post and it is HEAVY. The 75 I built a month later and made it much lighter and I used 2x4's for the frame. The quality of and the durability is 100x more sturdy and more solid than anything store bought.

Get this... the wood used on these stands is made from 100 YEAR OLD barn wood! This wood came off an old barn that was torn down. It was a huge pain to get paint off if the wood, and infact you can see traces of the paint on the wood still. It was purposefully left on there for character. Some of the lines on the wood is from weathering... like rain flowing down the boards etc. Some pieces of the wood on the inside panels have actual horseshoe marks in the wood from the horses kicking the inside of thier stalls. I went for a rustic look on these guys.

I no longer use the 55g one as a stand but rather as a small buffet hutch in my dining room. My father inlaw helped make this one and with the history of the wood etc. its a keeper. I just added 2 pieces of that old wood on the top to convert it over to a hutch.

Remeber ALL of the wood you see on the came from a torn down 100 year old barn even the trim, which I double routed, nothing was stained I only used satin polyurathane.

Thanks,
I had to do a lot of cutting and using the best of the pieces. For every board foot that I used I through out 1.5-2 board foot in waste. If you notice I used a router on all of the door pieces. The door on the 55 are a little fancier than the 75's.

Oh I would like to add that the stand on the 180g is NOT made by me. The quality of the wood is ..meh, and its pretty light weight, it's and All Glass brand one.

thats sweet I should build custom stands for people....what did you pay for the all glass one with wood and all i would charge around 350
