I decided to get a lid for my dual 20gallons tanks, when I woke up one day to find a fish swimming in the right side tank, that had been in the left side tank. I guess it was his lucky day, he picked the right side to jump out of 
. These are the only tanks I ever ran without lids, but all I had was some neons and a couple tiger barbs; boy was that tiger happy to be in the neon tank.
Side note the tanks where blacked out on both side and back panels no way he knew there was a tank over there for him to land in.

I was awaken in the middle of the night twice by my old dog (also a Border Collie), who had found my 12" wolfish on the floor and brought it to me. Lucky fish...
Smart pup, now you need to teach you to bring you the fish once it jumps before it dies, rescue dog :] But really sorry for the loss, it totally sucks! I need a lid as well, sometimes I have to do a fish count make sure there were no suicide attempts.
