MY DOG HAS A LUMP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My dog had a lump on his cheek. It was right under his skin. The vet said it was just fat accumulation and that it was not a problem. A friend of mine's dog also had a lump but on his side and their vet said the same thing. My dog died after 6 years after his visit to the vet. My friends dog is still living and they had their vet look at their dog over a year ago.

Hopefully its the same thing on your dog. Good luck.

thanks all :)

Could be a cyst, could be an abscess, could be a tumor, could be a few things.

If its hard and moves around under the skin like a ball, could be a cyst or a tumor.

Abscesses ooz.

Dont worry too much about it. Dogs get tumors ALL the time. No joke. And most of the time they are benign. The doctor will probably just lop it off and sent a biopsy to the lab.

actually now its mentioned, i think this is reasonably common, so maybe its just that

Mine gets skin issues every now and again, look like 1/2 of a large marble, they go away in a couple days. They're just some sort of irritation.

Sounds like a tumor, get her to the vet as soon as possible. If the vet thinks it is a tumor it would be a good idea to do a biopsy to see if it has cancer or not, if it has no cancer she will be perfectly fine.

i have 2 pits and they both have benign tumors or whatever the hell you wanna call them. i have never had a biopsy done as they dont bother my dogs at all. the breed in general gets lots of skin tags and skin growths such as tumors or cysts. shouldnt worry too much, those dogs can pull through just about anything.

thanks... ill find out a 4.... taking her to the vet then.

Not to be the downer here, but I found a lump the size of a quarter on my Father-in-laws black lab, it turned out to be a malignant cancer. We were lucky to catch it in time, or the dog would have lost it's leg. Good luck with your pup.
