MY DOG WAS ATTACKED BY 2 PITBULLS TODAY

I'd be curious to know how many of those cases were true APBTs or just a random mutt labeled as a pitbull. Any dog which is reasonably muscled with a square head is instantly a pitbull regardless of genetics. Most pitbulls also aren't really pits but instead designer mixes with some APBT in there. I love Am. bullies but they are just a so called pedigreed mutt.

I saw a video not long ago of what appeared to be two Dogo Argentinos mauling an intruder, it was of course tagged as a pitbull attack.

This breed requires strong leadership, their popularity is their biggest downfall. Like a Presa not everyone should own a APBT if you can't handle the responsibility. Blame the pathetic owners not the breed.

hello; In the literature I have read this question of pit identification has been addressed. I believe there was also court case in which this was presented. It is my understanding that the issue of mistaken identification is not a big factor.

1st of all the guy you are arguing with is hopeless. He's going to hate pitbulls no matter what, so don't waste your time.

2nd, How many people do you know who can actually tell the difference among American Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bulldog, English Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and other similar looking breeds?

I don't know many either, so the decisions and biasedness against "Pitbulls" is a.) extremely prejudiced, b.) extremely spotty in actual breed identification c.) people who never owned one d.) likely not based on individuals with proper background and education on the matter, and e.) overexploited and manipulated by the media (who somehow always manage to "miss" certain important parts of the story)

Hello; First, let me say that I do not hate pit bull dogs. I also do not hate bears, lions or such animals. I do consider the pit bull to be more dangerous than most other dogs. The numbers bear this out.

As one would with a lion, it seems prudent for pit bull owners to take extra care with the animals. This extra needed care has been voiced by pit bull owners on this very thread.

If a neighbor had a pet lion I would expect some special precautions. By the same token if a neighbor has pit bull type dogs, I expect extra care above other types of dogs. There is a difference between being concerned and being a hater.

As much care for as pit bull as with a lion, perhaps not. It does seem however that more extraordinary care needs to be taken with the pit bull types. Even the pit bull champions on this thread have stated that not everyone can deal with the pit’s.

I can see how it would be convenient for pit admirers if the issues surrounding the pit bull dogs could be dismissed by simply putting the “hater” label on those who raise the negative issues.

The first two links that follow are about the issue of pit identification. The third link is about the various myths that have grown up in defense of the pit type.

I don't know if I would call the care of pit bulls extraordinary as that certainly wasn't the case with the two that I have had years ago,but let the debate continue round and round and on and on.......

This subject is a dead horse that might as well be thrown in a blender because it's been beaten so well. It's been discussed in hundreds of pages worth of threads that have accomplished nothing but what side you are on. There have been absolutely zero side changes in any of these threads, They only divide people more as they post highly biased articles in each view while others try to seperate themselves from the impure mixed breeds.
At the end of the day just know you've wasted your breath and are arguing with a brick wall.

Hello; There are many members who read the threads and do not post. Some may be new members who have not read the other threads. While I cannot guess which point of view is more important to such members, I do believe that the injection of some basic facts may be of value.

I get that some do not like the points I make on this subject, but perhaps others have gained some insight.

The care of Pitbulls is vastly different than 95% of the breeds out there

Just because you can "own a dog" doesn't mean you possess the necessary skills to own, train, teach, bond with a Pitbull. There are dogs, and then there are Pitbulls. As you can see by the statistics, not everyone is cut-out to have Pitbulls

They are not for everyone. I agree probably half the people who own them do not possess the skill level to own them

My dogs are never off leash...I dont believe this breed should be.

Hello; It was not me who stated that the pit bull needs special care. The quotes above are some of what I was refering about.

^^Okay...as much as I like posting and talking on different threads all this is certainly enough repetion for me.I'm done here.
