My dogs freak accident [very graphic pics]

d3r, the biggest hurtle was getting him to take liquids the first week, after that it was a steady climb, are you able to get water/food down?

Glad hes better! Thats crazy..never heard of a dog that size getting trampled before. Poor fella...

n the first 3 days he didnt eat, drink or go to the bathroom. After the 3rd day I said screw it and put some chicken broth in his water..he couldn't pass that up so he finally drank. Then food came shortly after.

now he eats only about half of what he would before and drinks twice a day...hes gonna have to put on some weight again after this :(

i would worry, poor George only ate a few pieces of food each day and a single bite of canned dog food, it took about two weeks before his diet was normal. As far as how it happened, i wasn't there so i don't know, but he was with about a dozen other greyhounds at a boarding/dog sitter and the lady said the dogs were playing and he just fell down and in the mass frenzy of play time they just trampled him. scary, but what doesn't kill you right.

Oh man..you werent even there when it happened?? I bet they feel awful. Did they cover the medical expenses?

Dobie got his stitches out today! Hes happy boy now! But still needs to be in active for a week or two so the excess fluid can reabsorb back into his body.

nope, they just started to avoid all contact. It doesn't really matter when all is said and done, sure I could take them to court and fight yatta yatta yatta but in the end big guy made it so thats all that matters. At least you know your out of the water as well, even being inactive is only a matter of time before things are normal again =)

Been a little while now and he hasnt had any new hair growth on the healed skin so looks like hes gonna have this gnarly scar for life. Makes for good conversation though haha

this is basically PSA type of thread. My 100lb doberman had a freakish accident the other day causing a grotesque injury.

He was running in the backyard (full throttle ofcourse) and came up against a bolt sticking out of my kids basketball hoop.

the hoop(and bolt) have been there for years and nothing ever happened.. but it only takes 1 time, right?
$1000 vet bill but hes all fixed up now with 50sum stitches and a slew of medications.

anyway.. i cut the extra threads off and rounded the edges so it doesnt happen again.
i noticed big protruding bolts sticking out of my chainlink gate aswell.

i recommend people with large dogs take a look around
the yard n double check if theres anything around that could cause unnessary damage.

we bought the hoop pre-built so i didnt even realize the bolt was there until this happened.
***DO NOT LOOK @ PICS IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH***
thats so crazy man i hope they do better in the long run.
ill also have to do the same to my basketball court. Now that i look at it.
