Hi everyone i'm new to this forum and thought i would post a picture of my dovii. He is currently in a 300g with a couple of catfish. Everything else i throw in there has been killed. I have driftwood, pots but they don't seen to be enough. He is a solid 14" with great personality. Any suggestions on what I could put in with him and how i could introduce them to the tank?

How about some nice inanimate objects for him to play with? I don't think you're going to get much in there unless you get really lucky and he allows a female in with him.

yeah its hard enough getting a male to tolerate a female let alone other cichlids, try to add some large silver dollars and see if that works to add more movement to the tank but i think thats about all you would have a chance of having work (even that is a big maybe though since he is already that huge)

You'll be lucky!

Had mine which is about 10" in a 400G pond and he would still harass EVERYTHING, and not small fish either I'm talking 24"+ Cats here.

He did spawn twice with the female mind, but she was already in there to begin with.

Terrific fish.

I know it seems like alot of wasted space with one 14" dovii in a 300g but people are right it's very tough to have other cichlids with a male thats already grown that much. If your going to get a female for him get one that is at least 10 inch already or grow one out.

At 14 inches, there is really nothing you can introduce that will possibly live, unless you do the breeding setup thing with a partition(but that is a whole other plan).........Then again you have him in a 300g......Dump some females inthere....Purchase half a dozen juvenile Dovii from http://tangledupincichlids.com and let them pair up with your big boy.......Try floating ping pong balls.....I know Oscars that play ping pong balls all day.......Or you can try placing a mirror next to his tank for a couple hours every day.........A 300g showcase setup made for a DOvvii is Awsome, he SPOILED...........
