My Dovii is a Whimp :(

your dovii appears to be female..... I have owned many many dovii and even the skiddish ones are no slouches, matter of fact my most skiddish dovii was actually the best fighter. A midas in an aggressive fish @ any size but I think it is over powering your dovii simply because it is female. Throw a male in there and watch your Midas go missing ;)

Looks like a male to me..... Also doesnt look 6"

I agree with JK47, 30 mins isnt really going to change anything tbh Midas/Devils can be quite nasty at any size but if that is a Male Dovii as JK47 said give it time and size and suddenly he will turn on your Midas and then you will see whos boss.

For now as its not fair on the Dovii maybe seperate them.

Ive got a Male Dovii which is around 13" and i cant keep anything with him tbh.

Good Luck.

Thanks Darren.

Believe me its a male, wild fish commonly don't really have color. this dovii has spots on his fins and body. that last picture i taken of him, the light were off thats why he had faded colors.

What? Also I don't know why so many people keep getting 3-8" Dovii and expect them to be an all out killers.......and why are you mixing a Dovii and RD?

No, I divided the tank for 30 minutes and then let it lose... I personally think dovii's are over rated as far as aggression. they look cool, but are skittish and little or no personality.
Not sure where you are buying your F1 dovii's from, but I can assure you if that is a male he will kill that red devil given time. How long had the RD been in the tank before introducing the Dovii? If the roles were reverse and the Dovii had time to rule the tank before adding your RD, he may be dead by now. Though I love Rd's as well, the only fish that comes close to shear aggression if fighting other fish is an Umbee (partly becasue of sizes match). So do yourself a favor and seprate those fish or get a much larger tank with lots of hidding spots, and even that will only work for a little while, becasue as the dovii get's in the 12-15 inch range and settled, they will start to seek and destroy the most domoinate fish in the tank, and trust me no RD will be a match, sorry!

"I recently bought a F1 Dovii cichlid from a breeder and he said that it will kill everything?
Sadly my little 2.5 inch midas is pounding my 6 inch dovii, what is this? I've had 6 dovii's before and they all were skittish, territorial but not aggressive. I put up some pictures of this male dovii F1 "

This is very hard to believe, you had 6 dovii's and none aggressive. Wow, I'd hate to say impossible, but considering I have owned well over 20 in my life time, and they are BEAST with lots of personality, especially when there is a female involved. True Alpha-male syndrome...

Ive noticed doviis are a bit more sktittish but i think as they grow. be patient and if i were you id move the midas out and let the dovii shine unless you have an 8 foot tank for when they get bigger cause the dovii will dominate in time and he looks maybe 4" if that midas is 2.5". you cant expect a dovii to be dominant introduced at a snall size in an established tank

in my opinion u suld stop buying fish from your supplier cuz they have bad quality if that is a male dovvii
