  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sweet, dovii Another thing you can do to keep undivided pairs from killing each other is use alot of drift wood and rocks to make caves so the female can escape the males aggression

Anytime I try to have a pair of breeding cichlids, the Male either kills the female or beats her nearly to death. :irked: Any secrets on how to successfully have a pair without dithers?

Tank size can be a big factor. My festae (male 8.5"&female5") do fine in My 135 commmunity tank but when I tried to put them in their own 75 the male beat on the female

Thanks guys.... I'll try to get some more pictures up tomorrow. If I had them in a nicer tank or in a glass tank it wouldn't look so hazy.

I purchased 8 of the Parachromis "Yellow Heads" from Fish Farm and did this exact thing! Granted they're about 2" but I packed a tank down with driftwood and they're all established their own little coves.... hopefully they'll co-exsist together until they get a little larger and pair off!

That is a really good looking pair. I have only had my 3' inch male for a couple of weeks now. I have a female that is about 9' inches. She is insane, I had her in a tank with a 10' inch male Jag and she nearly murdered him. I put her in the tank with my 3' inch male Dovii with a divider and she tried her best to break through the divider. I did not want to take a chance, so I relocated her. I will post some pics of her soon. She is crazy, she will try to attack anyone through the glass accept me.
