TheFishGuy over in cichlid-forums put a bunch of monsters into an Intex pool for 98 days while he expanded his 800 gallon tank to 1600 gallons. I would not recommend doing this long term though.

The plastic will loose its elasticity with time. That will make any stress points weak, and then it will develop holes at those points.
Could even be a sudden burst failure in a crease or seam, and then you have flooding and big dead fish on the floor.
