pretty much what i was thinking. What pump is that and how long is the tube? How would I lose water if the power goes out?

I think it is a quiet one 800...I am not really sure lol.

The tube is about 6 feet long and it feeds into another sump. You really dont need to worry about how long the tubing is, its the height that matters most. If you dont have to push the water up, then you will be ok.

When I said the bit about the water draining I was replying to santoury but failed to mention that. If you drill a sump and let the excess water flow down the drain you have to take the total capacity into consideration. Otherwise, you may run the pump dry if the power fails (because it will drain a lot of the total system volume). You dont need to worry about that with a floatswtich and pump setup.

I think the idea you have is the best. If you plan on using a drip emitter, be sure to cut the pressure down to about 25psi.

To be honest I have no idea how to reduce the water pressure but thats what best friends who are plumbers are for. Wow i feel like an idiot I kept thinking of when they said height I kept thinkinf of that as a distance the water would pump through a horizontal or vertical tube
