Yep it's the blue variant. The yellow variant have yellow belly not light blue belly. Even the face is also yellow.
 
Yup my pair don't flower as much as the normal type Marulioides.
They are a pair and when they do the breeding "dance" the female color changes big time and her flowers pop out.

Nice! By October I will soon have some baby aurantis. My pair are getting aggressive now but to each other. They want to nite me somehow. Keeps flaring whenever I go look at the tank.

No this is not channa melanoptera. Channa melanoptera does not have the cardinal eye on the caudal tail.
