breathing heavy is a sign of illness or stress.
what is your setup like?
Is the tank cycled?
Make sure to add floating plants, and caves of driftwood.

feed them on a right time.most bichirs active in middle of the night..on a daytime even your feed in front of his mouth sometime he just dont care. so try feed him at night.bloodworm, sliced market shrimp, small feeder fish, sinking pallet will do..let it be if he dont wanna eat..later he will eat when hungry..hahaha
I agree. I would do a water change just incase and try to suck up all the old food. Don't feed for 3 days or so and then try again. Not having the smell of food in the water will help trigger a feeding response when you finally do put some food in. Try feeding at night after the 3 days with out offering food. It should kill blood worms after the three days for sure.
Lol.Starve it?
But here doesn't even sells market shrimps and those live shrimps they're selling are carrying diseases!Yuck!
Once I bought some for my aro but it gets restless and didn't swim much but luckily he recovered!
Thought of buying one of hikari's but not sold here.
Is there any chance it's selling at KL?
lol..then put aside market shrimp. in my case, i get'em fresh and alive(from my fishing bait stock!)quarantine first then only feed to your monster. yup agreed very hard to get hikari's in KL. most LFs just dont have it.
