well pretty much the same reason that people in california are not allowed to own ferrets. may people dont understand that sugar gliders cannot usually take temperatures under 75 or higher than 94 if they are captive bred. but they dont understand that they cannot survive wild in northern states, they would freeze to death. lack of knowledge leads to people suffering.

i have a glider named oops(hes about 4 years old now) i think they are geat pets but they take quite a bit of time and have some special needs, they do have a smell but if you keep there cages clean its not that bad, they are quite messy animals(at least mine is)they(males at least)pee on there hands and rub them on the things in there cage to mark there territory(and mine feels the need to mark allover me too!)and sent mark the cage with the gland on there head(and urine too)and if you dont cleen the cage and there toys they get gressy with it(witch is grose!)they can also make a mess with there food sence wild gliders feed on tree sap a lot of the solid food you feed them gets chewed up like gum untile all the juice/flaver is gone then they spit out the "pulp" mine dos it with some foods(gapes, drycatfood, rasions)but eats others(bugs, tofu, babyfood)mine loves nector made for lorikeets and the food i make for my starlings, and of corse MICE!

mice? would artic mice be a bad idea to try with my glider? i have some that the snake refused to eat. would he accept them you think? Yea my sugar glider marks me too, sometimes he crawls out of the bag in between classes and "claims" me by rubbing his head on my ear lol kinda funny. they do have a tendency to pee tho. i heard they are a lot like hamsters as in they cannot hold their bowels. I saw how you said they spit out the pulp its gross lol i feed mine at school before night classes and i mean he spits the pulp out and i think i got it all until i go to put him back in the bag and find it on my hand or something lol.

Yeah I had a few of those a few years back actually breed them for a local pet store to be honest... My wife feel in love with them instantly which was bad cause it was like pulling teeth to sell the babies... Well anyway finally got out of the sugar gliders and traded the time I was using for them and got a ring-tailed lemur now that really is an awsome animal... As far as sugar gliders go I still have a place for them just not the time at the moment...

Lovely animals if you've got the space and time for them. My other half loves them though.

was looking to see if there were any threads dealing with these guys and thought I would post my babies
