The gold ones would stand out more, i think the dark green anubias helps. I have some bolbitis in the center. When it grows out large enough, it will increase the contrast in the tank.

You know what I didn't take into consideration the plant wouldn't look as nice with a olive green background. The red is the better choice, I see that now.

No sand, its spray paint. Bare bottom keeps the tank clean for them.

Do yours like the bare bottom tank? My goldfish were ok with it, but they seem to really like the small gravel so they have something to dig through and sort. I didn't put much in, barely enough to cover the bottom and they move it all over the tank, even making bare spots that move around the bottom. I have thought about pulling it back out to make cleaning a bit easier but they seem to like it.

Yeah they seem fine on the bare bottom, they still look for food and eat the tiny pieces left behind.
