until last night, when I got woke up by my buddy, who had been asleep on the couch, and heard the aros fighting and then my favorite aro(20" black from my pare Volt) jump out, through the weighted plexi lid, and fall down behind the tank and sump- the tank is in the corner of the room and has a 8'x2' footprint, and the sump is a 125g that is only accessible from the opposite far side- the fish was against the back wall and about 6" from the 2' side, so the only way to get him was 8' away with plumbing and wiring in the way- it took at least a half hour to get him out- I went as far as to let the pump for the UV wet him good every so often- but by the time I got him, he had given up- I held him in the sump return for at least 45 minutes before I let him sink and I went back to bed-

last week arowanas were the fish that I had the most of- but I sold a leichardti this week and then this tragedy, I think my miniature indos have taken the crown over- I thought about taking some time away from arowanas until I fell asleep- but decided againt it this morning

What a shame!
Are you going to do something so fish can't fall into the same spot?

I thought the weighted top was good, :headshake- my next plan, since the tank is acrylic and easy to drill, is to hinge the back of the lids, and then put a hasp or bolt style latch in the front

also, I dont think its about keeping them from that spot- I just need to keep them in the tank- I had a silver bash through another style lid, and then die on top of the tank because I made the canopy such a fortress he couldnt slip out- but either way, hes still dead

Arowana have gills, not lungs...

Anyway, sorry for you lost badreverend. Make sure to patch up every hole there is next time. They seem to be able to aim perfectly to be able to jump out of even the tightest of opennings.
