Arowana have gills, not lungs...

Anyway, sorry for you lost badreverend. Make sure to patch up every hole there is next time. They seem to be able to aim perfectly to be able to jump out of even the tightest of opennings.

ha! the lung comment is a good one gshock- I wish I had pointed that out to him-
there wasnt a hole, he got up and under a weighted lid- Im going to try hinges and latches next

Sorry for the loss. I just lost one recently.

I know you did BigJ- dont you remember? I got an infraction for defending your fishkeeping skills a bit too vigorously, against that knob from texas!

-and thanks again everybody for the nice words

Tough break, sorry to hear.

Very sorry for your loss.

I think it must be that the first jump was to knock off the lid and the second jump was to get out of the tank. If so, it didn't get hurt from the first jump, or it got beaten from the fight badly enough that it must get out of the tank regardless? Or is it in the very first jump that he got out of the tank????

thanks everyone

if I remember right the splashing was still going on when I got in the room, but it couldve been the other three-
he didnt give out alot of abuse, but he could handle alot-
so Im thinkinking the fall and length of time it took to get him is what did him in-
on top of all that, Im positive I knocked off a bunch of scales trying to extract him- I had got a 1"x2"x8' from the garage, and from the far side tried to quickly but as gently as possible persuade him on top of it- and remember he was the full 8' away so I had the wood at the very end by only my index fingers and thumbs-
but I guess all that was better than staying in the tank, and continue living like the others
