If I had to pick one tanganyika cichlid I could own forever it would definitely be the Lepidiolamprologus attenuatus. IME they are the calmest in the Lepidiolamprologus genus, I have kept mine with many different tankmates such as placidochromis phenochilus lupingu, altolamprologus compressicep, synodontis petricola, and other timid malawi peacocks. Mine played nice with other tankmates (even surprisingly with the malawi cichlids which i am currently keeping the attenuatus with). Compared the the Lepidiolamprologus kendalli and elongatus i have owned in the past my lepidiolamprologus attenuatus seems to be more timid and mind to himself (of course unless you go near his rocks). I hope to find a female or two in the future to hopefully start breeding them. Sorry for the bad images he is always on the move and never stays still.

One of my favorite Lepidiolamprologus is elongatus.

In the lake they are found in and near those vast Vallisneria fields and meadows, and mine have done well in planted tanks.
And as long they are kept with species too large to comfortably eat, they are also calm.

These get a little larger., mine spawned at only about 7¨ .
