When I turned the light on this morining my FH went crazy. it started banging into stuff. it stopped after about 30 secs. I turned the light off after that. I am thinking of putting a bliket on the tank and adding salt. I did a WC a few days ago and I don't do many in his tank beacause he is in a tank that is 30-40 gallons and it is like 2 inches with 60 gallons of filtration so he might not be used to them (he has been a little scared since I did it). I know it could get bad beacause of my pearsei that died. I am going to add salt later and put a bliket on it's tank... anything else I should do, why did this happen?

Fish sometimes bug like that. No rhyme or reason. My parrots and fh, though they have been in the tank for awhile, will freak out when I turn the lights on too. Funny thing, because the tank is close by to the tv, I notice when there is an explosion scene or even a loud sound, the fish will go crazy for a split second and swim into the glass from being frightened. I wouldn't be to concerned about it.
I was kinda scared for him but it is fine now. I have never heard of fish getting scared of explosions LOL
my tilapia does it all the time. the other day we lost power and he smashed the side so hard i thought he died instantly. after about 5 min of laying on his side he was up and about just wrecking stuff again. its always a concern, but isn't a ton you can do about it
imagine sitting outside at 3 am and your dozing off in a lawnchair. within 1/10th of a second the sun pops up. youd prob poop yourself and fly out of your chair wtf!? lol i assume thats what fish do
I've had multiple deaths because of tht id turn light on and bam they'll start darting busting up on glass and dying from impact moments later so yes be careful on that if he hits some to hard it can be over
