_if tank's lights were off in z morning an so the dark room's _ to switch on the room's light first for a while to let the fish adjust then u can do the tank's ... unless sun light gets into z room then they can wake up at ease without being disturbed

Always turn on a room light before turing tank lights on. That's always the first thing I've done the past 10 years because cichlids are known for that.

I keep all my tank lights on timers. the fish learn to anticipate this. qgar are notoriouse for doing this as well. since i started useing timers for my lights. no spooking. and they are about 5$...

I believe I would act like that too if Oscaroo was my owner. whats tomorrow's daily thread from you going to be I wonder?

Put timers in your tanks. Mine goes into steps, dim light first for them to adjust and then the bright light later. Unlike us who can totally dim our sight with the use of our eyelids, fish do not have this and the sudden appearance of light overwhelms them. All my electrical apparatuses are actually timed: wave makers and lights. I am starting to think my fish have been accustomed to them. Today, I saw my GT getting below the wave maker so he won't be blown by it while the PB's lining up in front of it acting like there is a race.
