This is what i tell my wife all the time (something close to this anyways)
and it used to work,,, but shes got a snappy comeback for this now.

She goes : Yeah, you might be here, but you never pay attention to me anyway
so whats the difference??

But this is still my best line... it keeps the wife quiet more often than not.

Just graciously agree to take over the arduous task of paying the monthly bills. Trust me, it works! :)

She says I already spend too much money on this hobby and now I am checking out big fish. Uh oh.
Not even married yet and she's already nagging. Good luck brother.

Ok , if your fiancee isn't going to like this or any of the other suggestions. What do I tell my husband when he complains about me being with the fish moreoften then him. or the cost of having fish? :uhoh: Susie

well..in all, I think no matter what....family should always come first in our lives..you can indulge in the hobby by no means..but at appropriate time, we should tear ourselves away from the hobby for a while and be with the family and loved ones...once they see you make such sacrifices for them..they will appreciate your hobby more eventually and would not mind that much anymore...

alot of peps asked me how am I able to cope with family life and with so many fishes and tanks...its all about sacrifices..I will spend time with my son and wife in the evenings or the wkends..it is only when they are in bed..then i will go to my fishes..which at times...i lost sleep time etc...but i dun mind...to have such a balance...

After 2 years of frequenting fish forums, I've learned two critical lessons:

1) No kids. Ever.
2) Respect for fish in spacious tanks = mandatory, in any spouse.

See, I'm learning from you guys :D
