I keep fiddlers no they will not drown in 6 ins water this is where they do most of their feeding . So far none of mine have ever burrowed in the sand. They need slightly less then brackish water so I found. They need a place to climb out of to dry off. They will die sooner oe later in fresh water. A ten gallon can hold at least 4 they will wave each other off with their claws though a stubborn one might fight. No not only males have the large claw both sexes look the same only the females claw is smaller. They do need filters and heater . ps they do poop alot hope this helps.
