My final word on the Emperor 400 HOB Power Filter

I like the older ones with the clear plastic to view the bio-wheel and flow adjuster. They also seemed much quieter than the newer ones.

I drilled a large hole on each wheel cover just so I know its turning.

I ve got 2 emperors running out in the garage. My only real complaint really is the noise. Compared to everything else I run, they are the noisiest.

Not my go to for displays, but a pretty good filter functionally.

I have a smaller size on my 30gal in the bedroom and its totally stealth for over a year. Can't say that for my AC which is also on the same tank.

I somewhat like em, but it's like chevy vs ford I am a AC110 man lol but still run emperors when cheap

I wonder if the older models had more flow... my older emperor 280s seem to kick up quite a fuss, but my new 280s and the 400 seem less enthusiastic in the horsepower department under the hood.

Mine is a bit louder than my emperor 280s.
