Great pictures you are talented photographer. Congrats on the fry!

Thanks guys, I'm having so much fun with this whole experience.

I have lost a LOT of babies. I'd say I probably have around (100) left though. I really have no idea how many will survive, but I'm hoping a few will make it at least.

I went to check out one of the stores that said that they'll take them from me when they're bigger and I was absolutely disgusted by what I saw. Their tanks aren't very clean and half the fish looked to be pretty beaten up. I found the tank with their firemouths in it and they were dealing with some Ich! There was another fish in the tank with them, not sure what kind, it was a dark blue color and I felt so bad for it. It's fins were basically non existant and it was covered with Ich spots. It literally looked like someone rolled the poor thing around in sugar or salt. The other fish were picking on it. I waiting for a while to try to talk to someone, but the only employee there was helping someone pick some fish out of a tank. He reached into the tank to get one of the larger fish and somehow the fish ended up on the floor. It made such a loud slap when it hit the floor. They hurried up and put it back in the tank, but it just floated at the top. I highly doubt it made it. I was already sickened by what I saw, but then the customers were making jokes about it and I had to get out. My feet will never set foot in that store again and they surely will not be getting my babies! Have any of you ever reported a pet store because of fish neglect? Did it get you anywhere? I'm seriously thinking of writing to someone, but not sure if it'll really do any good. Maybe a letter to the store themselves about what I saw and how disgusted I was? I still feel sick just thinking about it.

On a happy note, here are some pics of my fry. They're starting to look like fish now. Last night I noticed for the first time that I can actually see them opening their mouths now and they're starting to pick at the driftwood and sand. It's so neat watching them grow. :)

You have inspired me to get a breeding pair of fire mouths. Long story short I saw some beautifully colored fire mouths at the LFS. I thought to my self these are as nicely colored as the guy online that just had babies. I watched for about 20 min and they were guarding a hole in some lava rock. I mentioned it to the manager and sure enough they had wrigglers in the cave. She sold me the pair and they are keeping them on hold until the fry are free swimming. I would have never noticed if I didn't see your pics, Thanks. I hope I have as good of luck as you do.
