my first 120 gal DIY stand Help!

Hello! I decided to be brave and tried building my first stand for my 120 gal 4'x2'x2'. I should say it was pretty fun and I had a good time building it. The only issue that I have now, is that when I put the plywood on top, I didn't sand down the 2x4 support pieces enough and now the top is uneven. One of the things that i came up to my mind as a quick fix is to get a 1/2" or thicker styrofoam board from home depot or lowes and put it between the tank and stand top to eliminate the gap that I have. What do you guys think of this?

The gap is only on the 2 corners outside (not the corners against the wall)

Even with the styrofoam, you will risk having a catestrophic failure (i.e. tank explodes). If you don't like the thought of 120 gallons of water on your floor, I would strongly suggest removing the plywood and sanding the top of your stand flat.

I think styro would be fine, call me crazy i dont see any problems using it. ive seen 6 265's with small spaces cured with styro for years without problems.

I suggest you sand it down. There is no factual evidence to support styro helping this situation.

There is definitely the risk of twisting force in this situation. Do the right thing and fix it instead of patching.

I'd have to agree with the guys above. The little time it would take to sand it down , would be a whole lot easier then the mess it could create. Not saying it wouldn't work, but that's alot of water to take chances with.

I use styrofaom under my tanks anyway
