You ever have the thought run through your head "What the hell am I doing?"

Im sure alot of you have. This is the exact feeling I get when I look to my left and see this...

Today I went and picked up a 8x2x2 tank and I am now building a stand for it. This is the first time I have ever had a tank this big and the first time I have built my own stand but it should be a nice upgrade from my current 5 foot tank.

This is the 8x2x2 tank:

She still needs a little tidy up but shes getting there.

I hate looking at an unfinished project but I have to think to the future and how happy I will be with it in the end :nilly:

LOL! I am the same way. Just don't get impatient. Spend more time planning than building. That is a killer tank and you'll love it. What are you planning on stocking/filtering it with?

Tank is on the stand now. Just going through final prepearation before she gets filled.

Willl be stocked with my south and central cichlids.

Filtering will be an eheim classic and eheim pro 3. Cant remember exactly the models. Eventually will have a decent sized sump as a DIY overflow system sounds like a fun a good project.

Right. So far so good! :D

The next thing to do on the list was to get the plywood base all sorted so that the rest of the stand could be built accordingly.

The other half of the stand section then started to take form. The other half was constructed using a plywood box that I plan to put a smaller 3ft tank underneath.

After the stand was finished I began to fill with water and see how my first stand held up! (Panels and aesthetics are still in the design stage as I keep changing my mind on how I want it to look!)

Fortunately my carpentry skills seem to have been sufficient. The filters were fitted and the fish were left to float a while.

Then built a lid as the lighting coming out of the top was starting to do my head in! lol

Finally this is how it currently stand at this point in time. Im still deciding on tank decor so I am experimenting with different ornaments and colours. You dont realise how much thought you have to put into it!

So yeah, let me know what you think.
