LOL thanks for all the replies guys.

Anyone got any opinions on the substrate and background?

At the moment I am thinking of white sand and a black backround.

That always looks good, the white on black.

i like it the way it is

i cant wait till my gt gets that big
here is a pic off her

Awesome project, nice hood, cant wait to see the stand fitted with some nice panels. I love your selection in fish too btw. Nice tiger oscar, managuense and GT! White sand with the black background is gonna look sweet.

PS skate or die!

looks good. the background being black will also look great. I never had any luck with white substrate. i used white for my green terror. he is a messy fish and it didnt take long for the substrate to start looking ugly. even vacuuming the substrate got brown and black. for substrate i would go with something more darker like a light tan or light brown.

Yeah after a bit of asking around it seems like white might not be such a good idea, because like you said, it gets dirty very quick.

Been looking into using playsand as I need alot and its also cheap! haha The colour isnt too bad on it either.

Any one have any tips on doing a background?

Im not a massive fan of using a roll of aqaurium background as its hard to get flat and looking good on big tanks. Unless there is a good way to adhere them flat to the tank?

Painting really isnt an option at this point... lol

Other option is a big piece of ply/hardboard painted black?
