My first 60 gallon tank. Any ideas?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A baby arowana in an aggressive tank = loss of money. They can reach 3' too, do you plan on upgrading, or is this your first tank? To start, try not to mix african and ca/sa cichlids, as they have different requirements for a lot of things. Also, Oscars can get 15" atleast, and can get very territorial with other oscars, and tankmates. The only options I see that will work in that tank would be the jd and the sal, those 2 could probably work great together, and I wouldn't advise adding anything else besides a small cat or something for bottom cleanup, dithers.. The red terror could be fine in there for a little bit, but they do grow fairly large, especially males, and in a tank that size more than likely would not tolerate any tankmates.

u probably should stick with only one south american. the dempsey with an oscar would be too much and dempsey with two oscars is a real disaster. just the dempsey would be best if thats what u already have. if ur planning on not putting him in there and want more fish, then maybe two salvinis by themselves would work. but not multiple dempseys and oscars

i would stock with like a pair of a SA chiclid.
Or like 20 exodons.
or listen too the other suggestions. you need a bigger tank if your want to have everything you stated dude. gl with your tank

Unfortunately, as many have said above a 60g is too small for everything - especially the arrowana and the oscar.

Also, it can get tricky keeping ca/sa fish with africans due to the different water specifications they need.

Either go for smaller fish or consider getting a bigger tank.

Thanks everyone. You guys are right I don't think I'm going to get the arowana and for now I think ill just do the Dempsey and some cichlids.

Does anyone know a good website to buy fish at?

i think you should get rid of the african and just leave the JD in the tank alone

and by your avatar picture i think you should get natural colored gravel or sand instead of really fake looking blue gravel
