Ok I went to about 5 LFS in SF today looking for a Aro to pick up. I got some ehlp from the guys in the Aro section as to what to look for and I also went with my gut, do I like this fish or not.

This one is about 10" long and has quite a bit of pink on him. He was actually marked as a "Rainbow Arowana" I dunno if thats a fake name or not. I suspect it's a slang of some sort. But they did tell me this one is captive bred and from Singapore. I hope he keeps this pink. I know he looked really "pink" under their pink lights :) I can still se some nice pink stripes on his scales, so lets hope it stays into adulthood. Anyway here he is, feel free to let me know if I picked a decent one.

congrats, depending on how well you take care of them ( which i'm sure you do a damn good job ) he/she will grow around 2" a month untill 18-24" than will slow down to about 1" a month.

They are beautiful fish, and not to agro if raised with smaller fish.

CONGRATS!!

Yup, the move went very smooth :)

You know I hope my Dats don't start nipping at him. They are all out "free swimming" telling the new guy hello. Funny, most of the time they just sit in there hole till it's feeding time :)

When i lived up in boston, I kept 20 small 2" dats with my african arowana. at first they nipped him for the first 2 hours, but than they started to settle down. Had him for 3 years than i moved :(.

The arowana should be fine, but are very fragile untill around 12". so if theres agression just seperate for a month or so.

Congrats! You got yourself a BEAUTY!!!!!!

The "Rainbow" is just a silly gimmick to get more money HOWEVER, that Silver is showing some nice color! Beautiful fish and even nicer tank! Full tank shot?

Looks good and glad to hear he's on sticks already....
