My first Asian (green) Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice Aro, IMO I say it's a Banjar Red. I've never seen that color yellow on a young Green's fin. I've seen more pale yellow like a normal Green Aro. I would feed it shrimp,FD krills, mealworms and when it's bigger add superworms(to help build massive body shape). I say normal white lights is good for your Aro. Good luck with your Aro. Time will tell us, what type of Aro it is. :)

You know, the best thing in this hobby is the people and theír good hearts. Somehow the people in sweden that are in this hobby are really special people. Cearing people with big generosity.

When my friend who was gonna pick my arowana up and drive it 2 my place went to pick my arowana up (long distance drive, around 6hours) the importer and my friend found my arowana dead in the tank... Reason of death is unknown.

I sold allot of fish and did allot of stuff 2 afford and make room for my arowana, so my friends -the importer and the driver called one of the other buyers (a nother friend 2 us) who bought 3 greens and told him what that happened.

They came 2 the conclusion that the importer gives him back the money for one of the greens and take it from him so i still can get my arowana.

This means that faltsetas gives me one of his arowanas, the importer lozes cash, and the driver has 2 wait 2-3 hours extra just for me.

All this without me even asking for it u know..

Its touching 2 have good friends like this man, i hope you guys are the same 2 eachother, makes the hobby so much better.

MFK-for life

We have had a big diskussion weather these arowanas are Green or Banjar red, i beleve that the one on the video i showed (my friends) is a banjar red just as hao beleves.

Must have been some misstake at the farm. But i am however certain that mine is a green despite the very yellow fins, u wont however see the yellow fins on the pictures now because the colors are very pale due 2 the transport. But when it was at my friends place it had as yellow fins as the one on the video, but u can allso see the pink color on mine and thats why im sure its a green.

Here is some pics and as u can imagine, im FREAKING out of its beauty, i feel really lucky 2 have this fish even tho its the more common and cheap one,

Hi AmaroSwe,

Nice and amazing tank set up. IMO your friend aro vid is a Bandjar Red.

Originated from Bandjarmasin, Indonesia. BR tail fins colors ranges from Yellow...Orange to Red. Body colors

ranges from silver with bluish/greenish scales to pink. Some people call it Yellow Tail.

From your pic, I can see a slight yellow on the tail fins and you said there's a slight pink on the body. Well...I'd say

its the same Bandjar Red that you're having. If you're lucky, it can develope yellowish tint on the gills.

Anyway, BR is the higher grade compared to Green aro. Normally you will get a certificate for this grade unless you

bought it blackmarket/ unauthorised dealer. The expensive Green is the Nami Green which is difficult to get...rare

and the color is not exactly green.

From what I've seen, Green aro doesn't have yellow or pinkish colors on any part of the body...only pale green.

Asian aro : temp 26 to 30 Celcius
pH : Slightly acidic - 6.5.
Feeding : Below 12 in : Twice a day.
12 - 18 in : Once a day.
Above 18 in : every alternate day.
Food : Market shrimp ( remove the hard skin when aro small )
( Adult aro: with skin but remove the shrimp head and tail coz sharp...might damage/punture the aro stomach)
: cube market fish flesh without bones.
: superworm, mealworm, crickets ( remove the legs coz sharp, pellets( have to train when small), frog ( need to hit the frogs head to make it dizzy and then release it at centre of aquarium) If you dont hit the frog's head, the frog is aggreasive..the aro will be chasing the frog and hit the glass or decorations, it might get hurt.. Aro eats almost anything.
If you feed your aro with dead food...easier to combo with other fishes. Feeding live food makes your aro very aggreasive...also pathogens are introduced to tanks via live feeder fish..

Easy and hardy fish to take care of. Good luck and enjoy your aro.

Ciao.
