My First Background....experimenting

I have done them with really strong magnets. You silicone the magnet into the styrofoam and then have the connecting magnet on the outside of the tank. This makes it so the aquascape can be removed if you wish at a later time. Placement of the magnets is critical, and it can take a lot of them, but this will hold it in place without having to silicon it to the tank.

that sounds good but wouldn't even know where t get magnets...the only magnets I have are from some old 12 inch speakers In my shed...lol....well I will try to do it the way I was planing have some extra materials to xperiment I want to be able to take it off in pieces just in case I don't like it someone else could use it than trashing it..all that money and time wasted would be a shame...besides I can use the money for a pump or some media..even some lighting....next step is trying to finish up the. Overflows and sanding the background...

most hardware stores will have magnets. Good luck, can't wait to see it done.

Well I hate this site.....since I been on I've wasted so much money and long nights. With all the great ideas ived read....well today I went to lowes to buy a stud and some nuts for my motorized bicycle.....so like 3 dollars the most...I walked out with a 75 dollar bill.... I bought my drylok and some quikrette color...and some fittings for my overflows.....at least my girl is not giving me any problems....well thanks everyone..for making me spend so much money in this addicting hobby...lol..

I think it will look good. When i did mine, i also got some artificial plants and siliconed them into the rocks. I also experimented with a bubbler in one where the tubing was hiddent behind the rocks and the bubbles would go up the cracks between the rocks. It was a cool effect.
I never colored my concrete. Usually you'll have algae grow on it and this will give you a natural contrast (that and the concrete stain was expensive).

5 bucks per bottle but its well worth it if u already spent money n time doing the background. Besides mine is drylok and its white so I need some color. ..
