As some of you know I have talked about getting a bichir for some time. After thinking about the different ones I have decided to get a senegal. It works with my unfortunate current budget and the tanks that I have up in running. :headbang2 It's awesome. I have it in QT right now but I can tell that I have another infatuation going on. Sooooo cool! I've admired the pics and stories everyone has told but now I have one for myself and I can't wait to watch it grow. I'll probably get some buddies to hang out with it in the near future. Is it ok to mix different bichirs or should I stick with senegals in the same tank. I probably will but thought I'd mention it. I can't wait for this to unfold. I also picked up 3 clown loaches for $18.50 US, I couldn't let that slide. It's been awhile since I've seen them around here. Wish me luck!!!

A.You can have other species if your tank is big enough. But i'd stay with smaller upper jaw species ie,delhezi, palmas complex etc-Anne

Thanks Anne. He'll probably wind up in my 100g. Not sure yet as I met do a little rearranging. Are they jumpers? I have a small area open around an aqua clear hob. Should I close it up?

yes they are jumpers for sure. close up everything you can...

get some plastic or nylon window screen and a dab of silicone to cover the opening

Awesome fish, bichirs. I've been keeping forty years, but was only recently addicted. Got a little Senegal as a tankmate for my African Knife and fell hard. I'm currently setting up a tank for Delhezis or some Palmas variant, depending on which I can locate first after cycling.:grinyes:

Congrats on your first bichir Ullo, welcome to the addiction :D
