well guys, never post about a new fish until the following day. the beta was dead and stuck to the filter this morning. the guy who tested my water was someone i dont know, so im gonna get it tested again after school by an employee i do trust. what did i do wrong?
I have had bettas that lived for years and ones that die in a couple of months. He may have been sick when you got him but it is impossible to tell without posting your water parameters.
Also...sorry for your loss. He may have been sick when you bought him. I have had a few bettas get sick and die shortly after purchasing them. You have to admit they are usually kept in about the crappiest conditions out of any fish (while at the lfs), so this is bound to happen.
sorry for your loss. hope your going to get another. there is something about that first day. ive had several fish die on the first day and none once its post one day aside from filter malfunction, dog getting hungry, and carnivorism. liek zenzzo said, is water dechlorinated?
Sorry for your loss, but don't give up...learn from it.
The white spot could have been ick or a fungus brought on from stress. Either way you need to sterilize the tank and everything in it or that goes in it (nets filter, airstone etc.) before starting over.
Now on to that question...How did you cycle the filter/tank/water? And did you dechlorinate the water?
