btw the pic was taken from side of tank and fish is about 6" not including tail

If he's that big he's probably close to needing moved soon. a 20h won't cut it for him. He needs at least 75g if you're keeping him by himself or may work in that 175g pending how mean he/she wants to be.

I wouldnt transfer him into your cousins tank unless the fish he has in there are big and can defend themselves.
Otherwise your fish could end up doing some harm. Flowerhorns are usually very aggressive.

I would check your local newspaper. There are often tanks for sale for cheap in the classifieds.

right now his tank is empty and my parents wont let me keep that big of a tank at our place seeing we live in an apartment building and we live on the 4th floor walk up

Well, if there's nothing in it, and he doesnt mind, then that would be a perfect temporary solution until you get a bigger tank.
But you dont need anything super huge. I would think that a 60 gallon would be sufficient for 1 FH.
You can find 60 gallons with stands for not too much $.
I would keep him in the big tank until you can buy the 60, you could sell the 20 to help pay for it too.

yeah you mos definately want to put him in the bigger tank at least for now. i hope you cant set up your own becaus these are wonderful pet fish and i hope you have a lot of fun kepping him.
you probably should have started smaller tho. when you get him out of that 20 out some danios and tetras and barbs and small chilids (rams are good) in there and practice keeping good water conditions.
good luck.:)

P.S. this is the best hobby you could have picked! ;)

Welcome to the hobby! You got yourself one heck of an awesome fish to start with! Tons of spunk and personality! Watch yourself when you do water changes...very high possibility you might get nailed by the brute. Gonna get better as it gets bigger as well! Hope it works out for you and you continue to venture into the hobby! :D
