So my good friend is a fish guy. All he dose is buy fish animals ect. So he call me up one day and tells me to set up a tank. Well I'm not a newbie to keeping freshwater fish, so I continue to do as he tells me. So I get a a 55 gallon. Start setting water parameters Start cycling the water. 3 weeks later I get a package in the mail. Open the box and here he was.......

First glance my fiancee was like" your good friend must not like you much." I brush her off and call him. With many question.

What kinda fish.
What to feed.
How to set up tank.
Ect. List goes on.

But my last question was "why did you send me this fish?" Background to this story. I use to be a fish hobbiest just as he was, just got caught up with life and had to sell most of my tanks and fish. Didnt have fish for about 10 years or so. Well now that I'm somewhat settled he was trying to get me back in to the hobby. And this was his way. I've had him for about 2 weeks now and I see why he sent me this guy. Everytime i come home from work, he's happy to see me. Maybe because he's hungry but feels good to be needed (No homo). He's a very active fish which is a plus in my book. Found out the hard way he dose not like other fish haha but no fish was severely hurt through that trial. I look at the guy and I see he's a beautiful fish with nice colors and this big lump on his head Not knowing if it is a plus or a minis yet. O ask him how much do I owe you. He says "nothing bro, it's on me". Well I'm the type of guy who dose not like to feel like I owe someone anything. So my question is... ballpark estsmet. How much did he spend so I can try and get him sometho g of equal or greater amount. Thanks for reading

Hats actually a very nice flowerhorn really nice colors on him and the big bump is called a kok
And usually in flowerhorns a big kok is actually wanted. Lucky a very nice gift and I'd suggest to keep him alone they are very mean fish. Very personable fish too though mine was always greeting me as well. Price range id guess anywhere 150-250$
How big is it ?

I did not expect such a high dollar number for a fish. So I guess my buddy dose like me.
This pictures was taken when he was about 3 to 3.5 in. if this guy has any potential clsoe to his brother then he's gonna gonna be a beautiful fish. Here is his brother. I hope my fish gets as red as his. But when I got him he's been the same color. He get a little more red everyday. But not even close to my buddys.

That's a really nice flowerhorn here is a picture of mine I got a few months ago View attachment 1245823 View attachment 1245823 what do you guys think?
I can't seem to pull up the pictures. But was looking at you back post and you have a very nice collection of flower horns. But for me. I'm still getting back into the hobby slowly and this guy already requires plenty of maintenance. Weekly water changes, different types of foods with regular feeding times. Grooming him. But with that also comes the fun parts. Watching him do somersaults. Jump out of the water to grab his food. And now he's come up to where the fiancee can pets his kok! (Should be jealous but he's my new buddy) lol but all in all he's getting me back in to fish. My friend who sent me the fh is also telling me to pick up this albino silver arowana from him. Haha. I'm gonna need a bigger tank.

Wow amazing fish. Loving the solid flowerlime from front to back. Good size kok he has.

What are you feeding him for kok enhancement? Or what is everyone feeding their fish to make their heads and color come out? I feed mine cut up shrimp with out skin or head in the morning. Sumo red when get him and more cut up shrimp when I go to sleep. I throw in a blood worms or beef hearts once a week. And to keep him aggressive, I pick out a red healthy looking, Molly/swordtail/guppies. I know it's like 2-3 dollars a week on one live fish. But it keeps him happy and aggressive. Friend told me to keep a small 5 gallon tank and treat them be for feeding my fish. Killing two birds with one stone. Give him food and meds in one go.

Here is a picture of when I first got him he was super stressed from shipping. I though he had a pretty decent size kok when he came in but a week after being in the tank, it just pooped out like a mushroom.

My question is, how fast dose kok grown?
