My first ghetto pond.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well its been a few months since Ive given an update on this thread. I was hoping to show off all the new stuff that I added to little sallys pond, and for everyone to tell me how good it looked lol but unfortunately things dont always go to plan.

As you may have noticed, I am located in Brisbane Australia and I am one of those Queenslanders that was affected by that unbelievable flood last month. Our house went under and we lost almost everything, luckily we knew the water was coming so we had time to get ourselves, the dogs, and thankfully most of the fish out. Sally is now living a bit cramped at my work until i get her new home up and running.

Man, she was really growing! Best of luck, I'm sure you've given her the best life she could've ever hoped for if your not able to keep her. I know of few people who would ever take on such a mammoth challenge to keep an RTC! Good luck to a true, MonsterFishKeeper.

Thanks for the kind words. Although it would be easier to just rehome her, she means too much to me to do that. Her new kiddy pool is on the way and as soon as i set it up shes coming home.
Shes definately grown, this is her in the same tank the day i got her back in nov 2009.

Thanks, me to. The liner arrived last week, and the pool should be here any day now.

This is what happened to her old one.

It was empty after the water receeded so I guess it had a few holes in it and had to throw it out, along with the rest of my room.

The water came up over the top of two of my tanks but the fish that i had left behind survived and were waiting for their dinner when i came back.

This is part of my driveway and the front door. Looks like quite a pretty river doesnt it? lol

I took this photo when the water inside the house was knee height, it rose another maybe 3 feet later that day.

This photo was taken afterwards, you can see how much water was in our frontyard by looking at the basketball hoop. It was insane!

Even though I walked through the house as the water was rising it was still unbelievable. We are very lucky though, our house is still standing. The suburb next to ours is completely devastated, most of their houses are timber and have had to be demolished because of the water damage.

great pond build moo and weldone on giving your rtc a good home, real bad luck with the floods that hit u, good luck on getting back up and running with the pond

I just read through your entire thread today. First, let me say your creativity to create an indoor pond for your RTC is great. She is a beautiful fish. I can only dream of owning an RTC some day.
.
I am very sorry to hear about the floods that hit you there. I am happy for your catfish that you got her out of there in time. I look forward to future updates on you and your fish. Good Luck.

That's tragic man...just tragic:eek:
I'm hoping for the best for you and sally.
Don't worry...she's defanatly understands that you're trying your best for her...;)

Best of luck with you my friend:)
