Finally I got a couple of GTs. They are about 2,4 inches.
In the LFS I noticed that the female (seemed to be the only one), not only was the biggest and fatter, but also keeped kicking the other fish.
The male was thinner but was the best looking, in my opinion.
In the new tank, the story repeats, the female kicks the male every time she´s got the chance.
Is this normal? Or am I mistaken about the gender?

What´s your opinion ?

dont know about the gender but NICE looking GTs! they have alot of color for only being 2in!

You look correct on the sexing. It is common for the female to beat on the males with these guys. Especially with a similar size or smaller male. Give them plenty of structure to rid line of sight between them until they bond better or the male gets more size on him.

They are a little young to tell sex for sure. You might have 2 males though the one you think is a male looks like a male to me. But its not common for a female to beat on a male. Only time can tell. Great looking green terrors though.

Greenterra seems we have conflicting experiances. So I will rephrase my females have never been overly aggresive to my males. But I guess others have experianced this kind of behavior.

I should add I have had 3 pairs but in all cases the male was much larger then the female. so I have 0 experiance with a female that is similar size or bigger then a male. So your probably right.

If it is male and female though watch how it swings when the male gets bigger it will be a 180.

Good looking GT's for sure.

But i have a hunch that the "female" is actually a male. It has the patterns and colors of a male at 2" where a normal female would not color up untill about 4-5", atleast to that degree.
The trailing of the fins can come at a later time, so the fins being a bit rounder now, might not be a definite sign that it is infact a male.

Good luck with them though :)

Thanks for your help.:mwave:

The "female" has two dark spots on the gil plates (one in each), and the "male" doesn´t.

Isn´t this characteristic of the females ?

They are getting fatter, especially the female
