Hello,

I have had a shoal of 7 congo tetras (1 males and 6 females) for approximaly 4 years. I came downstairs this morning to find the male had died unepectedly. It is a shame as he was almost fully grown and in great condition.

All water tests are fine as are the other occupants of the aqurum.

that sucks sorry for the loss....

sorry to hear that man, were they breeding?
I dont know much about them.

Thats too bad... it sucks when you loose a fish... especially when it is difficult to replace...

I Googled "congo tetra lifespan" and there is information that the lifespan of the congo tetra is approx. 5 years... maybe he died of old age?

Burt:)

I would say im sorry for your loss but id rather say congratulations on being such a successful fish keeper! one in 15 years is pretty incredible.

Ditto, you get to wear the "extremely dedicated fish keeper" hat today.

Four years old, that is approaching old age in this species.
