Hello, I just received my 7 inch dovii male I bought from a importer out west, he's very shy and skinny right now, hoping to bulk him up nicely lol I have him in a 120 gallon all by himself with a fluval 406 canister and a an aquaclear 110 and keeping the water at about 27, I wanna know if he has good potential to grow into a monster male, any opinions or suggestions for bulking him welcome, thanks

Looks like a Costa Rican with those yellow colors. Just get him on a good carbivcar pellet and feed well. Definitely has potential

Thanks for the response, once I get him eating ill try feeding 3 times a day with good water changes

Put one or two fish in the tank with him and then you’ll see a whole different fish

So just abit of an update hes about 8.5 inches now, very very shy I almost never see him , was wondering if it's normal for him to be hiding all day? (Unless he sees food) here's a pic I took about 2 weeks after I got him

I have seen a few people import large dovii and they took months to warm up to the owner while others were crushing food and tankmates like it was nothing the next week so idk. I raised my dovii from 1" and she was always active.

Thanks for the response, ill give him some more time to adjust, he eats well , just not infront of me lol

I've had my 12-13" male for two months and he is still acting like that. Very shy. Not what i was expecting when he showed up. I thought I was getting a 9 inch approx fish but unbeknownst to me it was actually listed as 9+ so he showed up much larger. I posted a question about it and the consensus seemed to be to just keep giving him more time.
