Their behavior is why they do not need a huge aquarium. Consider the fact that they spend the vast majority of their time in their dens waiting for a meal to pass by; they enjoy tight spaces as it makes them feel secure. They're like the fish equivalent of a large snake and can be cared for as such.
Besides, why would LiveAquaria.com and numerous other reputable sites say that a 180 gallon aquarium is the minimum?
Unless Im able to find a bigger skimmer used for about the same price Im almost sure Ill end up buying it anyway. All fish will be bought as juveniles and grown out in the display. Then upgrade when Im able to. I am totally ballin on a budget here with this tank. Thought about trading or selling it for a 180 like I originally wanted, but think with a little time and the sale of a few other toys and tanks I will be able to get it up and running soon.
