I would go for the biggest tank you can reasonably afford....the bigger the better!

consider using acrylic and glass. btw gravel dislaces water so gravel doesnt add to the weights. glass does though and can add around 125lb for an all glass 300gallon

There's a reason gravel sinks: it has a higher density than the water. So while it does displace the water, it still increases the weight of the tank.
