Its not something that is guaranteed will happen, but i’ve heard this situation come up a few times during my years of fish keeping that i think its worth keeping mental note...
I mean you could finish feeding off your colony of MTS to your puffer, but maybe crack the shells open a bit to hopefully minimize any potential problems?
Or as you said, you could sell them and replace with stuff like ramshorn or apple snails (if they are legal)...
