My first Motoro at 13 inches just had her first litter of 3 little pups, 2 of them are females i could not see the third one clearly as it has dug itself in the sand immediately, pics will be attached later when i can get some good shots but i will add some initial lousy pics for now :) , i have gone through the pup care sticky but it does not mention if you want to keep the pups in the same tank, is it ok to keep them in the same tank and what measures need to be taken, what i have done so far is separated the male using a divider so that it does not chase the pups or the female and let her rest, covered the heater with a plastic cover as the pups can get hurt, i was planning on doing a water change in the morning about 40 % is it ok? what else do i need to care for as this is my first litter i would appreciate all the help i can get.
Thanks in advance.

All natural, i bought a pair last year at 3 inch each and one year later i have 3 pups, just kept the water in good condition nothing special, even both of them eat hikari food only fed earthworms once in the whole year

Congrats on the pups. I have always removed pups to their own tank. I set up a pup tank before they are born by taking filter material, water, and substrate from the main tank and transfering it to a tank for the pups. I try to remove them as soon as I can, mainly so the pups aren't stressed and it is easier to feed them when they start to eat.

Thanks Spotfin, i was in the middleof setting up a 480g tank and it got delayed, i dont have an established tank at the moment :( i got a 10 g but will need to be cycled, although the pups are not in danger in the main tank now that i have separated the male, do you think they would be fine in it?

X2 with what spotfin said....
may be fine with just the mother, but will have a hard time feeding with big rays like the mother...
You dont need a cycled tank, you only need a cycled filter... Move some media out of the mothers tank and put into another filter and you will be "cycled".

congrats, im sure any ray owner is very happy with their first litter.

i would agree that you should put the pups on their own... you should check another thread on here that i started a while ago titled " how to help stumpy the stingray " for a very good reason why
