From the look of the pictures the pattern seems to disappear and come back depending upon mood. Reminds me of a pike I had years back can't remember the exact species but I do remember the females got pink and blue om the fins and a little around the belly. I had a male though so not much color. He was really mean. Ruled a 180 at the lfs. Max size for it was supposed to be 9 inches but not much was known about crenchila (spelling? ) at the time so could have been wrong but mines was 10 - 11 inches and one of the meanest fish I've had. He killed many fish but I found a mix for him of similar sized fish that held there own. I'll try to find the species I believe it started with an a not to sure as it was years ago. I'll look into it for you though. Might learn a little more myself lol
