The banana's of a banana plant are not suppose to be covered. Your off of to a good start.

I don't think I have a banana plant but I could be wrong. I had a guy who is part of our local planted tank club help me pick out some starter plants. This is what I think is in there:

Peacock Moss
Ludwigia brevipes
Taiwan Lily (this was the label at the LFS, not sure what it really is)
Myriophyllum mattogrossense
Cryptocoryne retrospiralis
Cryptocoryne Lutea
Amazon Sword

Nice tank setup..
very creative..
so what fish r u planning to put in that tank?

Not 100% sure yet. I have a few cory cats, blue rams and assorted tetras I plan on moving in there once it finishes cycling. Been thinking of getting some angels once its ready.

Looks really good!

What lighting are you using?

I am using two of the 55 watt power compact kits from AHsuppy.com (http://www.ahsupply.com/36-55w.htm) for a total of 220 watts. If I hadn't bought the kits over a year ago and I had more money to spend on it I might have gone for some HO T5 setups.

I built the canopy myself so I could (sorta) adjust the light placement. Here is the thread about the canopy:http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304396

Man...I have eco complete...fert...excell...DIY co2 and 37w on my ten gallon...and i still dont know if my plants are pearling. I think they are ha ha I will have to post pics. (but I think it might just be the Co2 bubbles getting trapped under the leaves?) For how simple your guys systems are the tanks look great.
