Hi guys.. i got my first polypterus yesterday. A 3" endlicheri.. absolutely beautiful fish..

For now i have him in a 30gallon tank.. would just like to know if i can keep my 8" leoplard pleco in the same tank? From what I've heard polys don't go well with plecos..

Would it be ok if I get another 3" endlicheri in the tank aswell? i do plan on getting a bigger tank in the future..

Any comments will be appreciated..

Congratulations! Be sure to post pics of your endlicheri! =)

Congratulations on your new endli, cant believe youve not put pics on though, lol, theyre my favourite.

Your plec may be ok,BUT 99% of the time its just not worth the risk so i would get it out asap, also if your planning on a bigger tank with more endlis etc what size tank for life were you thinking.

Steve

Thanks guys.. i will get some pics up soon.. my endli is always hiding though.. i guess hes a bit shy..

my pleco is safe for now in another tank..

i was thinking of a 50-60 gallon tank in future.. my original plan was to get 2 oscars but i saw the endli and had to have one.. so i think I'll just keep 2 or 3 polys.. if all goes well..

Id say a mimimum would be a 75g with a good footprint rather than height.

Good luck

steve

I agree with Steve, a 50-60 would be okay with senegals or delhezis, a 75 or even a 90 would be more realistic for endlis.

cool i'll probably go with the 75g then.. need to make some progress with the finances now.. i hope to have everything set up in the next few months..

what would be the best time to feed endlis? since i got mine i feed him bloodworms in the evenings.. I never see him eating it though.. when i check in the morning most of it's gone but im not sure if he eats it as I have 2 angels in the tank with him..

browsing through the forum I see its a common problem.. is there anything else i can do/feed to make him eat? he' still a baby but i want him to grow huge..

I haven't had endlis, but as I understand it, they are one of the pickiest eaters. I have yet to find a predatory fish that didn't like earthworms though. My rescue oscar took a bit, but once he realized they were actually edible...

Here are a few pics of poly and my pleco.. i wish i could keep both in the same tank.. the pleco was 2" when i got him. hes about 8" now..
