So here goes, I have been into the Aquarium hobby for some time now, and I already have a 125gallon community tank. So I know the game plan, I am currently embarking on a new adventure of having a predator tank. and I have a few questions

Firstly, I have decided on a highfin red wolf, and in the other forums I discuss in I have found that it will be beneficial to have a catfish as my clean-up crew. I was wondering what one would be appropriate, being that I will be starting off with a 40gallon breeder tank, and soem catfish get entirely too large for said tank.

Secondly, I have an extra bag of the substrate I used for my 125 that I will be able to use for this tank, but it is pea gravel, like you would find at homedepot or your local hardware store, is that appropriate for a red wolf? and what other specifications will I need to adhere to for a succesful life of this fish.

I plan on this being my pride and joy tank, in my bedroom, Thanks for the input in advance

Tyler

welcome to MFK! not sure about this fish you speak of, but stick around long enough and you will find an expert. good luck!

Thanks! I have actually found a link just for wolf fish, it doesnt specifically answer my questions, but knowledge is power!

There is a major problem here, to be an MFKer you must use that 125 for some sort of giant monster fish....:D

Seriously though, any gravel is fine. Red wolffish don't get too big either, so you can mix 'em with stuff. As for catfish, there are tons of species. If you want to stick with Amazon species, big rapheals and Brochis cats are cool as cleaners.

rtc would be your catfish. mines eat all the un eaten food on the ground. but they can also be messy easters at the same time.

Please pretend this post doesn't exist. Don't get a Red Tail Cat for your 40 gallon, it will outgrow the tank in 6 months and eat your wolf (they can reach 4 feet in length).

i meant a rtc for his 125 gallon. but you will need more than a 125 when he grows bigger.
