Picked up a tank last week and it came with a motoro ray and a niger cat that have been living together for some time with the previous owner. (He had them in this tank with an arrowana and a peacock bass.)

They've both settled in well and eating well etc.

But now I'm looking at tank mates to add. As I've spent all my money on this new setup I'm keen to add fish from my other setups rather then buy new fish.

Most of my other fish are aggressive cichlids (Haitiensis,Dovii, Bifasciatus)

Would it be ok to add some small plec's and a Geophagus?

Cheers

Pete

cichlids for the most part are a no no, plecos are normally a no no as well they pick up bad habits of sucking on the slime coating of the rays.... silver dollars, discus, aros, anything big enough to not get eaten and are top water non agressive fish are good.

Welcome to the ray addiction! Post some pics!

Not sure how big your new tank is but an aro is always a nice top swimming addition...

Thanks! I've always admired these guys from a far. But on my last diving trip I came face to face with a monster ray (not sure which species) but he was huge. Since then I've been hooked and wanted one. Here's my little lad Walcott :naughty:

yeah once you get bitten by the ray bug thats it your hooked:D

good luck

Think I'm hooked for sure, I can't stop looking at him. I've kept quite a few types of fish before, but every time I look at this guy I'm amazed. The way he moves, feeds, it's just beyond natural! I could watch him all damn day If I didn't have to go to college lol

He only went in the 5x2 yesterday, will upload some pic's once he's settled in. A guy locally has a female motoro for sale but cos I shelled out on the new setup I cant afford it..............YET :(

The addiction is slowly taking all my money and consuming all my tanks..... help...... I recommend you get out while you still can!!!

congrats mate. I'm still trying/endevoring to get my sodding ray tank set up. Having forked out for a structural engineer and getting certified i am now pissed off as i have run out of bloody substrate :irked: Who'd of thought 25kg of substrate wasnt enough for 25sq feet (2 tanks but one is much smaller than this)..... I have more filtration than a person could shake a stick at, i have rediculous volumes of extra equipment but no ruddy substrate! And i can't have a bare bottom tank- it just wouldn't be proper.

Out of interest; if your tank upstairs?
